I'm running Sovtek GZ34's and TAD 6L6GC MSTR power tubes. Bot an RFT, RCA long grey plate 7025, GE long grey plate, JAN GE 12AT7 and Sovtek LPS in V1-5 respectively. Got the plate current set at 30mA and the amp has never sounded better. Took practically all the harsh top end out of the red channel to where I actually like playing on it and the orange channel just sounds phenominal now. Was trying to get rid of this amp forever but after deadbeats and low ballers I decided to mod it and now she's a keeper.
I drilled a 3/16" hole in the back of the chassis right below the red LED for the EL34 bias light and Epoxied the pot to the inside of the chassis where I can just use a small flathead and adjust the bias from behind the amp. Works GREAT and more importantly sounds GRRRRREAT!
