trying to get a nice warm bluesy gary moore tone with this and the les paul but am really starting to streuggle....theres not enough BITE or midrange/top clarity....Is this the nature of the amp..Ive had a marshall before and hated it. Not sure what im doing worng or maybe I just bought £3000s worth of the wrong kinda guitar gear.

heres what im aiming for but without a marshall...or 59 LP. Who thinks that is possible???

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6IO5EN49hY

my settings are approx

bass -12
mid - 3.30/4
treble - 4

gain - 12.30
pres - 3.30

master - 12
output - 8.30/9

SET TO SPONGY MODE WITH VACUUM RECTIFIERS

Ive tried raw across the channels and clean pushed....seems to lack warmth
vintage mode on ch2 i drop the mids back to around 1-2pm

maxon settings is gain off, level 12 and tone at 10pm

this is ch3 in vintage mode as theres a little more top end available..

ch2 vintage is warmer but loses the clarity

ch3 is too cold but has more cut

im struggling with it

the maxon really helped a lot but still......not right yet

les paul is a 97 standard with low output handwound bareknuckle stormy monday in bridge, oil and paper cap mod, wired 50s style

I played it loud for the 1st time at a practice...wasnt that loud really but it sounded horrid.

anymore suggestions?
