hello guys,
finally after quite a long time, I finally got a Studio 22 Plus and looking forward to having it delivered any day.
My buddy had the very same one for years and loved it! Mind that I am mostly into Rock-Blues and I believe I've got the perfect match along with my 1995 PRS McCarty :D
Will post comments as soon as I get a little busy with this little devil!

I'm not crazy about the stock speaker (I put an Altec Lansing 417-8H in mine) and you might want a lower gain tube in V1 and V2. At the least get the best, warm NOS 12AX7 you can afford and put it in V2. I play my Studio .22+ for about 90% of my gigs. It sounds good with everything from a Telecaster to a Les Paul to a Gretsch. And I've even let a fiddler use it with her ZETA five string violin. Oh, baby!

Another option to lower the gain and still keep it on board in case you need it is to send it to Mike Bendinelli and ask him to add a fourth volume pot in the back of the chassis. It is a kind of Lead Drive "gain limiter" for the lead channel.
When it is at 5 o'clock, it has no effect at all. When you start lowering it, it starts to reduce the gain in the Lead Channel. I am usually setting it at 1 o'clock.
Welcome to the club!!! It is a wonderful amp.

By the way, I also upgraded the speaker to a Celestion 90.
regards

wowwww! thanks you so much -both of you guys- for the smart tips!!! :D
I really appreciate your help!
The gig's tonight! let's see how it gets

I love my 22...a great versatile amp!!!

The stock speaker is not bad but at live volumes, it lacked warmth and overhead.
I just recently slapped an old Celestion G12-65 and it made a huge difference.

Mine started making funny crackling sounds when I play lower notes on the clean channel.
It also does it on the lead in a strange cycle even with the guitar volume off.
All stops when the input cable is pulled but the cables are all ok.

Seems to be in the preamp side so all tubes were checked too.
Maybe a bad cap or something...

Has anybody here tried a Celestion V30 on the Studio .22+?
How would it sound in comparison to a Celestion C90?
Regards

So a Celestion 65 and Alnico speaker are good choice for the 22 studio

I used a Private Jack in mine and it was GREAT!! Total sonic happiness for me! Also, a telefunken (OOLLDD!!) in V2 really made it sing!!!
