Dual and Triple both sound much 'bigger' than the Mini, mostly due to the power. If you want a massive modern rock sort of a tone, the Rectos both fit the bill. The 2 x 12 recto cab will be tighter than a 4 x 12 and if you boost, a recto should be tight enough for what you need.

If you're like me and run in spongy mode and 50watts then the Triple and Dual are pretty much identical.
I've never played a show that could possibly need the volume of a Dual Rectifier on full power and cranked until there was a need for more headroom. Not saying that 150 watts of angry Recto isn't f@##ing rad. 8)

Thanks guys for all the advice! I'm gonna try a few setups this weekend hopefully and make a call. Still think it's the Triple Rec + 2x12 Mesa at this stage, but gonna try a Marshall 1960 with vintage 30's. If they do me a sweet deal I could be convinced to go with a Mesa or Marshall 4x12 depending on how they sound.

Wow! Rectifier comparison videos on Youtube are all over the place! :shock: You may want to bring your guitar when you demo these amps...and maybe copies of each amplifier's manual. I realize that sounds incredibly "nerdy" but Youtube may not be enough to make you an informed buyer. I need to play my Roadster now for a little self-assurance... :shock:

Anyone got an opinion in comparison to the Mesas?

Can't make a comparison but your question got me interested in responding.

MI Audio make great amps. All Australian. The guy (Michael) frequents this page http://www.guitargear.net.au/discussion/index.php?board=1.0 and this page http://www.guitargear.net.au/discussion/index.php?board=27.0 and gets people involved for ideas and tryouts. Probably the only 'mass produced' amp builder in history to actually ask what people want in an amp. He gets the responses, creates discussion and then tries things out, eventually settling on something. Seems to be a top guy, too.

The MI AUdio Revelation amp (MkI) was hand made in Sydney in 2008. This was his first amp to be produced for shops, I believe. This amp had everything but the kitchen sink. I couldn't afford it back then and I won't be buying one now as I already have a Roadster and it's enough. It's a very interesting amp, none-the-less. Ok, so I bit the bullet and finally got a Triple Rec 3ch with the 4x12. Just went fk it and got the whole shabang! Was also worried maybe shoving the 150W Triple into a 120W cab could be a bit disconcerting if it blows, even if my eardrums probably would before that happened. Man that thing is baddass and sooo many tonal variations! LOVE IT!

It's not often you drop so much cash on something but have absolutely no regrets... seriously. Wanted one for years but seriously worth the wait.

The MI AUDIO stuff looks great too, I'm Australian and like to see that happening over there (I'm in NZ at the mo.. it's cold.) Might have to invest in one later on if I can justifiy it.
