The volume on each channel has input on how much lead gain you get. 6-8 volume 6-8 lead drive should bring higain. Maybe there is dirt in the potmeteres that can hinder the volume to have no effect. The channel 1 volume on mine goes to 6 and then no more making lead drive weak.

You can use a wah from the amp input to the decided channel inputs on the back of the Quad. Step on the wah to activate channel. Or you can get a Rockman midi octopus and a midi board of choice + benefit of midi for effects.
