    Cabinet emulator help.

Hello Your studio pre already has 'cab emulation' via the 'recording' outputs. Run your G major through the efx loop, send and return and send the recording outputs to the board. It is at line level. It isn't the best cab emulator in the world but it is serviceable enough for what you describe...

Triaxis needing a suitable power amp

When I had a Triaxis in my studio, I used to run it clean and sent that signal to a Marshall EL34 50/50. The power amp was full on in the studio and it fed a pair of 1X12 Marshall cabs with Celestion G75 drivers. One cab was mic'ed with an SM57 and fed into the control room. The sound was...

    Internal tube change and cleaning. 2:50, 50/50, 2:90;

I did that too 12AT7, and I think I did that to the studio pre too. it just gives me a wider range of control over the area where my tonal prefs. live, otherwise for me it saturates too much too quickly....

Mesa/Boogie RecRecPre Demonstration – “Recording Direct"

I have been doing direct recording since 1988/89. Through the 90s to about mid noughties I used a tube preamp I made, a Marshall JMP 1, and a Triaxis. I recorded them through cabs too and my power amp was a Marshall EL34 50/50. For 90% of the recordings (commercial) I did in my studio you...

Do the LDRs first, search down I think I posted on how I replaced mine. That resistor you are tapping might just be resoldered.

    Problems with Studio Pre

You need to take it to a Tech if you have no idea about what is wrong, and without insulting you - if you cannot test if the tubes are good or bad, you should not be messing with this.

    Replacing LDRs in Studio Preamp

Leave it if you want high gain but if you want assurance of more clean headroom the second tube could be a 5751.

    Replacing LDRs in Studio Preamp

http://postimg.org/image/9bx8ydlon/ http://postimg.org/image/4v3u4q7gp/ http://postimg.org/image/yowc6fonl/ Replaced the two 21L883 LDRs that control the channel switching. The Preamp was sputtering audio signal on channel switching and distorting in the clean channel due to leaky LDRs. The...

    Triaxis and Bass

The fella in Dream Theater used a modified Triaxis I recall. The factory moved the EQ points down an octave by changing caps or so I read.

    Cabs to studio pre/50-50 rack.

I started playing my Studio Pre/50-50 rack again and want to build a pair of 1X12 Mesa style speaker cabs for it like the old wicker grille ones from the 70s, the ones with the finger joints. Does anyone have the dimensions of those early cabs? I plan to use EVM12Ls in them. I currently have a...

50/50 power amp + studio preamp vs express 5 50

Just like to add my preferences here. I have the Studio Pre + 50/50, both the from late 80s. I use a 5751 in the clean gain section, and replaced the 12AX7 PIs in the 50/50 with 12AT7s. Night and Day. Couldn't be happier, it sounds richer and the clean channel has more headroom and the OD...

    Mesa Studio Pre help.....

Just a stock JJ Tesla 5751. I know there are a lot to tube aficionados with better ears than mine, but my amps, guitar and bass preamps (Fender, Mesa, Marshall, Demeter, Alembic, Trace, Read Custom, Egnater) are all-tube in my commercial studio that I have run for 15 years and I cannot really...

    Mesa Studio Pre help.....

I use a 5751 for the second tube for a lower gain clean channel, I find there is enough gain for me overall and I rather a clean Fendery sound, if I need more gain I can add a Zendrive or other pedal to add more, but I can't clean it up otherwise. But otherwise I can get that Robben Ford type...

    Studio preamp footswitch powered?

Hi I know can test this, but am curious if any one already knows if the Studio Pre circuit is designed such that the amp will power an LED with a footswitch, via the footswitch cabling without a battery. The Mesa Boogie branded footswitch has a battery for the LED so that made me wonder. I am...
