Royal Atlantic RA 100 Head Power Soak

I play with a hard hitting drummer in 50 watt mode; and this seems to be the perfect volume for my situation. When I attenuate below 50 watts I get buried in the mix. I don't notice a drasstic change in tone, but I do notice more compression and a looser feel. I really haven't had the need to...

Wow, I'm really liking the RA and its playability. Try ...

Congrats on the new amp! Please report back on the greenbacks. I have been toying with this idea because I have been going for a more vintage vibe. I also use the amp in 50 watts unattentuated pretty much exclusively with my band. I have been using a Boss eq in the loop as a clean boost. It...

Mesa Boogie Royal Atlantic RA 100 Rock/Metal

I had that problem when I was trying to buy. In NJ check out O"Dibella in Northern NJ. I was just at Alto Music in Poughkeepsie, NY and they had a head in stock. I picked up the combo at O'DiBella and it is a great amp for my classic/hard rock cover band. A bit of a pain to haul around. I...

    Post your Royal Atlantic rig's!

Cool. I have been toying with the idea of converting my combo to head because of the weight. Love the amp, though, so I am not sure if I want to mess with it.

New RA-100 owner, 2x12 ED cabinet on the way

Congratulations of the amp! I heard good things about combining the C90 and V30. I have a combo with two V30s. It gets nice crunch and lead tones, but sounds a little stiff on the cleans.

    RA-100 - your favorite od/boost-pedals?

I think the amp should take most overdrives well, because it has a ton of headroom. I have gotten good overdrive tones with a Paisley Drive and Tim. I have also used a DMM in the loop set to boost and slapback for a great vintage tone.

Did you sell your Royal Atlantic? Why?

My only gripe with the amp (and I have the combo) is the weight. The amp is very large and awkward to carry, especially up and down stairs. This has not caused me to sell it, although the thought has crossed my mind. I find it easy to get a good tone at reasonable volumes. The amp was...

    RA 100 - Brown Sound

The second clip sounds amazingly close to the original recordings. I am not surprised considering its is pretty much the same amp the EVH used on his first couple of records. Also, there are some spot on delays and reverbs which I suspect were added post production. As far as I can tell, the...

    Practice Amp

I actually like to use a modeler with headphone for quiet home practice or to take on the road. I use a Digitech GNX4 which has a ton of features and sounds pretty good with headphones. I also use an Epi Valve Jr. For home practice. This is a simple 5 watt amp that gets a pretty good vintage...

    RA 100 - Brown Sound

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKfD8U_gzpY This is actually a demo of the MXR Phase and Flange pedals but played through a RA 100. I think its a pretty convincing EVH tone.

RA 100 - Question Re Control Layout

I didn't realize there was a difference between head v. Combo. Thanks for clearing that up.

RA 100 - Question Re Control Layout

I have the 2x12 combo. When facing the amp, the HI/LO Channel is on the left and the clean channel is on the right. I have noticed on some of the Youtube videos that some of the amps controls are reversed with the HI/LO on the right and the clean on the left. What's the deal? Was there a...

    RA 100 in action

    RA is in but....

There is a kill switch for the reverb. If this is on, then maybe a bad tube in the reverb driver. If you have a spare tube, you might try switching it out. But I would check with the Mesa people first because you don;t want to void your warranty. Is the verb working on the gain channels?

Please Help - Can't find the Serial Number on RA 100

I went over this thing back and front with a flash light and I can't find it. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks.

    RA 100 Head vs. Combo?

I would have gone for the head if not for the 6 to 8 weeks for the custom order. The amp is very heavy and bulky. It is a pain to get it in and out of a car. It does come with easily removeable casters and side and top handles.

    NAD - RA 100

Assumer congrats! You won't regret it. Below is a link to a side by side comparison between the Electradyne and the Royal Atlantic. I haven't played the Electradyne myself to make a comparison, but based on the video, the Electradyne seems to have a little more bass...

    NAD - RA 100

I finally had a chance to open this amp up, thanks to my wife taking the kids out for a few hours. I tried it with a Les Paul, Strat and Telecaster and basically worked my way through the sample settings in the manual. This amp has an amazing range of tones. It goes from 100 watts crystal...

    NAD - RA 100

I will give a review after I have a few more hours in. I also had trouble finding one to demo before I purchased. I actually went to my local Guitar Center and I was told that amp had not been released yet, but I could special order and I would get one of the first ones that comes out. I left...

    NAD - RA 100
