    Tube question for Mark IV

So when I stay with JJ or Svetlana, it's ok? So what about the Winged C's...I read they can get boomy...and I allready dial out almost all of my bass... is there a huge difference between the normal Svetlana EL23 and the SED Winged C's...? which one would you suggest?

    Tube question for Mark IV

Hi all! Soon I'll be replacing the two outer tubes (currently sovtek 5881WXT) with EL34's... I'm having it done by an amp-repair guy who will also do a full checkup of the amp. When I asked for prices he said he would take 2 EL34 Svetlana winged =C= tubes. When I googled that tube, I read it...

    Boogie amp repair/check-up in Belgium

maybe odd question...I live in Belgium (small country in Europe) and I was looking for a repair or check-up store where I can drop my mark IV. I live in the province of Limburg, so if any of you know anyone there, please let me know. I know one store which has recently become 'official Mesa...

Need help with Sludge tone (Mastodon/High on Fire/Baroness)

I play a gibson sg, so it's allready quite full / fat sound. When I start to loosen the bottom end, it will start to sound to boomy and muddy. Or maybe i completely have the wrong amp, allthough I doubt it :D

Mark IV Marshall JCM800 -esque tone

That's a serious setup! I think it's a little to big for me since I don't do any stagework (yet!!). I'm planning changing some stuff on my current setup, but I don't know where to start...pups, external speaker, pedal. ps: what guitar do you play and what style of music? thank you!

Need help with Sludge tone (Mastodon/High on Fire/Baroness)

I don't think it's that sort of tone I'm looking for. It's no Sunn O))) type of sound I'm looking for! I really dig the sound they have in this clip! (especially Bill, on the right). ps: I hate decribing sounds, maybe someone should make a dictionairy on this: grittyness, dirtyness, crunch...

Need help with Sludge tone (Mastodon/High on Fire/Baroness)

Hi all I play a Gibson SG standard with stock pups through a Mark IV widebody combo (standard celetion speaker, 2 6L6, 2 Sovtek tubes (forgot Sovtek number)). I want to get a real nice Mastodon-like dirty tone (Blood Mountain). Mostly I don't get enough gritty/dirty with my mark IV, it's like...

Mark IV Marshall JCM800 -esque tone

It's been awhile since this got posted! I just recently bumped in to this! I was wondering which guitar you (TS) play and which pups in it? And I would like to know how the 4x12 greenbacks sounds in comparison with the combo's speaker? Is it completely different or somewhat alike? Next to...

(cheap) cab for mark IV combo?

And how the quality of this speaker in comparison to, let's say, MB itself? Heard quite good things about a 1x12 thiele cab, but they can be quite expensive, right? cheers

(cheap) cab for mark IV combo?

Hi there I was wondering if any of you could suggest a nice, not to pricy cab for my mark IV combo. I first wanted to change the speaker in the combo, but some people said, that was not a good idea. Better would be to buy a closed back 1x12 of 2x12 external cab, with some decent speaker (V30...

What to change in my Mark IV?

Ok, please explain a bit, because I will have to tell this in dutch! And I really have no idea what your are talking about! What did it cost you? ps: the amp is around 12 years old... ps2: I'm from belgium, so a job by Val King will turn out a bit expensive!

What to change in my Mark IV?

I changed them myself...could not wait! I gues it worked...there's still a sh*tload of sweet sound coming out of that beast! So I'm going to look for a 1x12 or 2x12 external, closed-back, speaker cab. Anyone other options, next to the Thiele with EV speaker?

anyone interested in a custom Mark enclosure?

What to change in my Mark IV?

That's strange...the guy I bought this from said he got the amp looked after before selling.... And that swapping, is it something I can do myself? And does a Mark IV need to be re-biased after installing new tubes? thanks for the help! and by pups you mean....? I allready hear that closing...

What to change in my Mark IV?

Hi all Since a while I've got a Mark IV widebody combo. I have been reading a lot about switching tubes, speakers, external cabs... What advice can you guys give on what will be an improvement for my amp? Currently I'm using: - pre-amp: 5 12ax7 tubes - power section: 2 standard Mesa 6L6 in...

So...nice tones here! Anyone willing to share settings?

Thanks guys, for the tip. Indeed, I still have to find my own tone in that baby. But if I wanted to jam along with, say Metallica, I would like to quickly dail in those settings and blast away... but then again, I'm not familiar with Mark IV long enough (2 weeks) to know if my current set-up...

So...nice tones here! Anyone willing to share settings?

I recently became a proud owner of my first Mesa Boogie Mark IV (don't you just love how that sounds?). I have to get used to the fidgeting and very touchy EQ... But here I hear a lot of great tones (especially the metallica ones), but almost no one seems to be willing to share his/her...
