    The tubes depend on whether or not the amp is Simul-Class Simul-Class can accommodate 4-6L6's or 2-6L6's in the two inner sockets with EL34's in the outer sockets. The non Simul-Class versions run 4-6L6's You cannot run 4-EL34's in either version.

    The problem most Mk III's have is that when swithching form Rhythm I to Rhythm II there is a volume drop, especially at higher settings of the Volume I control. The Rhythm II mod enables you to adjust the volume difference between Rhythm I and Rhythm II Do it yourself mod, link...

    1/2 power switch on mark iii

    And on the Simul-Class amps the switch on the front panel might be marked 1/2 power but will actually be class A (15 watts)/ Simul-Class (75 watts)

    Back to uusing the Mark III

    For about the past 1-1/2 years I've been using a Suhr Badger 18 due to the fact my Mark III was just too loud. About that time we put the drummer behind a plexiglass screen,... all of the sudden everybody was looking at me for being obnoxiously loud. Couldn't hit the sweet spot of the Mark III...

    Studio Pre gut shots

    I have a Studio Pre, which has a loose wire coming from one of the effects loop jacks. Can someone upload a gut shot of their Studio Pre. I would like to compare, and try and figure out where this wire is supposed to connect. Thanks!!
