    Regrets.....

The only regret I have about my DC-5b combo, is not buying one sooner. BTW: I have an old Musicman RD 112 Fifty that my wife won't let me sell. I keep tellin' her the Mesa covers it, but she swears I'll regret that if I go through with it Funny thing is, prior to these two combo amps, I was a...

Mini Rectifier (GUT SHOT wiring pics)

Man, that looks nice. Cramped, but tidy. I love the fact that the pots are not attached to the PCB - that'll pay off in 20 years :) Thanks for posting those pics

Buying a Mini Recto and have a question for owners

I do have one bit of experience that might intrigue you - I have a couple of 1x12 ported Thiele cabs loaded with EVs :) I have plugged one into the combo to give it some extra oompf, but found that the combo really didn't need it. That is, it made such an insignificant difference, that it...

Buying a Mini Recto and have a question for owners

I could probably drag the DC-5b over there - mine's a combo. I can't promise it'll be anytime soon, the guy has a 2-year-old and his wife just happened to be out of the house with the rugrat at the time. No telling when we'll get time to try that, but I will try. Are you running a head and...

Buying a Mini Recto and have a question for owners

I just had to chime in here - I played through a mini recto for the first time last weekend and was totally blown away. Don't ask me what settings I used, I just tinkered until I got it where I wanted. It was running into a Mesa 2x12 vertical cab (not the older halfback-one of the newer sealed...

    DC-5 Combo + External Speaker Cab(s)

Hello Beloved Brethren of the Boogie Clan, I have a hypothetical question for you all. Let's say I have two external cabs, each rated at 8 ohms, which I do. Let's also say, just for the sake of argument, that I want to hook up both external speaker cabs AND the internal speaker of the DC-5...

    Anybody use a Power Soak?

The more I use this thing, the more I find exactly what you just described. I have been using the soak for volume and... I do notice the difference in the channel balance I sometimes have to compensate for the wet blanket I can really get the singing feedback at a bedroom level It does work...

    Anybody use a Power Soak?

UPDATE: The one thing this attenuator does well is, it allows the Output knob to be turned rather than tapped. Without the soak, I have to tap the volume knob to keep it from getting to that 'stupid loud' level while practicing at home. Once past 2-3 range on the Output (in a live situation)...

    Anybody use a Power Soak?

I totally understand that blanket effect, I call it a wet blanket. That's why I mentioned the -9db setting being the sweet spot. It's not super attenuated, just moderately so. Any higher, and the blanket starts to form. I too have noticed it better to try adjusting after attenuating. The bonus...

    Anybody use a Power Soak?

Hi y'all, I just picked up an old Tom Scholz power soak for practicing at home. Just wondering if anyone else has tried 'soaking' their Boogies to achieve the same tones at any volume? Anyone? Opinions? FWIW: I have found that the -9db setting seems to be the sweet spot, YMMV

    Pedal Board/ATA Case Advice Needed

Ah, now I see you're in Maui.... You may have to put some glue on the adhesive back of the velcro too. What's so bad about a curvy pedal board?

    Pedal Board/ATA Case Advice Needed

3/4"?? Geez, are you planning on suspending your amp from that board? LOL. Velcro sticks like hell to the carpet. Buy some of the industrial grade stuff at Home Depot :) It works great! A couple large pieces actually keep my Nova System in place when the case is vertical. Oh btw: I used some...

    Pedal Board/ATA Case Advice Needed

@Monsta: Have you thought of building your own? I built one to fit into a suitcase that I picked up from the thrift store for $6 The board is just 1/4" plywood, with some black speaker carpet on it and durable rubber feet on the bottom. Works great, cost me less than $40 in materials. If you...
