    .50 Caliber+ Combo help!

Thanks for the reply asmela! I haven't used the amp in a while, but if it happens again, I'll certainly keep that in mind to try. I have a Crate V3112 that sometimes needs the Send/Return jacks cleaned in this way. I was told there is a contact that, if not used, slightly corrodes causing a...

I prefer my Delay in front of the amp! Am I the only one???

xxDavidxx- Typically, if you use a lot of preamp gain, a delay will sound much better in the loop because the loop inserts after the preamp. This way the preamp distortion delays "cleanly". If the delay is in front of the amp with a lot of gain, each repeat gets distorted also, which is usually...

I prefer my Delay in front of the amp! Am I the only one???

I prefer the TC Flashback in front of the amp also. Actually, I think I prefer all of my foot pedal delays in front of the amp (Boss DD-2, 6 & 7, EH Memory Toy, Jacques Prisoner, TC Flashback) for the same reason you stated also. I prefer a little grit with the delay to fatten up the tone a...

    .50 Caliber+ Combo help!

Well, I have a separate question, but it might be an easier one. Would it be possible the problem was in the power tube sockets? Before I plugged the amp in today, I wiggled the power tubes to make sure they were in tight. There was a very little amount of play. I then figured I would plug...

    .50 Caliber+ Combo help!

Thank you for the info Andy! I appreciate you taking the time to post. I have a spare 12ax7 for the PI but I don't think I have a pair of 6L6GCs. Should I wait to replace the PI until I can also replace the power tubes?

    .50 Caliber+ Combo help!

Hello and thanks for checking out my thread! I had great fortune when Kekam35 solved my DC-3 problem and I'm hoping someone (kekam35 are you there?) can help with this problem. I plugged in my .50 Caliber+ combo and after about 15 minutes, the signal fades (loses volume) and then comes back up...

DC-3 Problem once amp warms up

Thanks kekam35! It is on both channels. I will swap out the PI and let you know if that solves the problem. I expect that if I swap out the power tubes I will need to bring the amp in for bias adjustment, correct?

    The Official DC Club

I just saw this thread because it was bumped up over a thread I just started. I have had my DC-3 and .50 Calibre+ for years now. Do I get to join twice and can we retro my membership? LOL PM sent.

DC-3 Problem once amp warms up

Hello and thanks for checking out my thread. I have had my DC-3 for a number of years and love it. The last two times I used it though, once it warmed up and is played for about an hour, the clean channel starts to distort (like I am in the gain channel). The gain channel gets fizzy also...

RS Guitarworks kit for Les Paul

Thanks for catching that Dom. Yes it is probably a treble bleed, if it is attached to the volume pot.

RS Guitarworks kit for Les Paul

Greetings Mo1A, It really isn't complicated, but if you have never used a soldering iron, it is not something you would want to learn on a Cu22. It sounds like you are actually describing the tone pot, not the volume pot. The cap bleeds high frequencies off to ground, which makes what we hear...

RS Guitarworks kit for Les Paul

+1000 I installed this exact set-up, except for the toggle switch, in my '71 LP Deluxe. The tone controls are entirely usable in every position. This is one of the only guitars I have ever felt a need to actually use the tone controls. Fantastic!

Newbie "Best" Tube Question - Your Opinion Wanted!

Thank you for the reply! That sounds like they will give me what I want. I've never experimented with different tubes, for tone's sake. I've only changed them when they've failed. I've been told that pre-amp tubes don't generally need to be changed, unless one fails, but power tubes wear out...
