For anyone in the North Texas/DFW Metro Area considering the purchase of this amp....WARNING!!!

About three weeks ago, I made arrangements and paid the seller a visit with cash in hand prepared to buy. All based on the original listing which was worded almost exactly the same as it currently is. In summary, the ad stated the amp was in very good working condition.

NOT!!!!

The amp had serious problems. CH 1 was dead. It was not tube related. Preamp tubes were swapped out and around to no avail.

With the master volume on 10, it was barely putting out anything at all. Should've been peeling the paint off the walls at 3. Power tubes were swapped around to no avail. The amp was then powered down, unplugged from the wall. Chassis removed for a careful visual examination in front of the seller. All tubes were slowly and carefully removed, all pins and sockets were carefully examined for tension and cleansliness. No discrepancies noted. Amp chassis was reinstalled. Amp was powered back up. No change at all.

All the aforementioned was done in front of the seller at his residence.

The seller had a sheepish/embarassed expression on his face, apologized profusely, and hesitatingly admitted he had not a clue how the amp was really supposed to work, and that it worked fine the last time he used it (contradiction in terms). It was obvious he was trying to pull a fast one. He listed the amp as local sale, and that he might consider shipping.

This guy is a crook, and an idiot. He only knew how to turn the amp on. He knew nothing else. On the phone he couldn't tell me if the amp was a Revision A or B (I knew from a shot of the back panel, but was testing him to see how big of a bullshitter/liar/idiot he was). The guy didn't have a clue.

He had the amp looked at, put crap JJ 6L6's in it and relisted it.

What a scumbag!
