Hi all,

I've been playing with a boss LS-2 pedal and a micro preamp (based on an Engl) to essentially add an extra two channels to my MarkIIC+. (two clean, two lead)

LS-2 is set up to either route the signal through the front of the amp with effects loop bridged, or to go into the external preamp then into the effects loop return.

EQ is applied to both signal chains, though reverb only works on the front of amp setup.

It works pretty damned well.

I will try it on the Pre Amp Out-Pwr Amp In jack so I can put a separate EQ on the external preamp. (Does anyone know which is send/return on the TRS socket?)

So the question is, what preamp style would best complement the MarkIIC+ in a hard rock, blues style?

Would you go Marshall, Fender, Vox, Mesa Triple Rectifier, Bogner, Dumble etc etc..

Any specific preamp models recommended?

If you haven't tried a separate preamp into the effects return I'd recommend it, it's a lot of fun and cheaper than buying/lugging multiple amps!
