ENGL Screamer 50 vs Single Rectifier s2

I don't own a screamer but I have an E530 and I had Single Rectifier V1 for about 6 years. I prefer my ENGL over the Recto for single note lead work and fast metal chugging and galloping. I kind of like the clean channel a little more too. I think the Single Recto is much more versatile...

Mini amp heads! What's your favorite?

You know I am starting to realize this now. There is a lot that happens when the speakers are getting worked that effect the tone that is just as important as the tubes being worked. hmm maybe an isolation box would be a better option.

    Stomp Under Foot Pumpkin Pi

Well, I'm not so much into fuzzes anymore so I'm selling this. This pedal is less than a year old and has only been used a few times at home. It's a really nice huge sounding fuzz box. It definitely gets that Siamese Dream Pumpkins sound but it can also do any classic fuzz sound too. It's...

    2x12 cabs...suggestions

Well, I have a 4x12 avatar but I'm not gigging. Does anyone know of a good 2x12 that I can get that won't make me miss having a 4x12? haha I've always heard the Genz Benz were good but I have heard some other negative reviews of them. I would prefer a 2x12 that can be run in stereo with my...

Mini amp heads! What's your favorite?

I've been reading up a lot on the Dark Terror, Mini Recto, Carvin V3M, ENGL Gigmaster, and Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister. The Carvin and H&K though seem to not be as geared towards metal though. I wish I had a room to just sit down and play them all. My friend just got a Mini Recto so I'm...

    Monte Allums NS-2 mod.

I've done some of the Monte Allums mods. I've done 2 SD-1's, DS-1, Metalzone, and the DOD Malmsteen pedal. I really love the SD-1 and DOD mods. The DS-1 was okay. The Metal zone one though...I didn't like it at all. I found that the pedal became very muddy.

Mini amp heads! What's your favorite?

Well it's been a while since I posted on here but I figured I would get a good range of opinions. I currently have an ENGL E530 going into an old VHT 2502. It's a nice combination and sounds great. I don't really get a chance to turn it up though. I live in a town house and I'm not in a...

    New Guitar Carvin CT624

Yes this is their Dragonburst finish. I really like the color. It's unique to Carvin. I'm very very happy with this guitar. It plays great, sounds amazing, and the quality is top notch. I have already started looking at other builds to do with Carvin for whenever I get a 7 string.

    New Guitar Carvin CT624

I actually got this guitar last Monday and have really been enjoying it since then. The tone is really great. It's very thick sound like a Les Paul. I have found that with this guitar I can turn my gain down a lot and still get a very thick chunky metal sound. The guitar can definitely...

    NGD-Carvin CT6M - Updated Pics!

cool pictures. I actually have a CT6 24 fret in the process of being made right now and it should be done in 2 weeks. I'm anxiously waiting for it. It's good to read quick review. I have a feeling I'll be changing out the pickups also. I really like tight high gain sounds. I haven't...

any love for Randall MTS RM100?

I've always been very interested in these but never had a chance to play on one. I don't agree with the idea of it being gimmicky like rocknroll9225 said. This idea is used a lot in recording studios with 500 series modules. We have an API lunchbox at the studio I work at and it's awesome...

    Need help playing live.

Welcome to playing at a church. I've played in churches in Pa, Va, and Fl and the only one that was a good experience musicianship and sound wise was my brothers old church down in Boca. The others the sound people were volunteers that knew very little about sound and the musicians had trouble...
