Ampteaker Tight Metal Pro + Dual Recto

The Ampteaker Tight Metal Pro can apparently be used out front or as a preamp straight to a power amp. If used in conjunction with a Dual Rectifier could you somehow bypass the DR's preamp and run the Tight Metal Pro straight to the power section of the DR? Even if it can be physically done...

    Speakers in Rectifier oversized 4 x 12

I have a Rectifier oversized 4 x 12 cab that I putting up for sale. It's about 6 - 8 years old. I seem to remember a tech once telling me it was a good one because the V30s in it were somehow different to newer versions. Maybe it was because of where they were made or something, I can't quite...

    Jamup and my Dual Recto?

Could I use Jamup on my iPad to create a signal I could route to the FX return on my 3 channel DR and onto my Recto 4 x 12 for live use? In other words I would use Jamup on my iPad to act as the preamp and pedalboard. Then the power amp and the 4 x 12 create the live sound.

Para EQ with boost in loop + Decimator G String?

I have a 3 Ch DR, an ISP G String Decimator, an Empress Para EQ, a Flashback X4 delay, a Maxon OD9 Pro+, a Wahzoo Wah and a Fuzz War. I have been trying for a while to get my board right. The Decimator G String is supposed to be used in conjunction with the loop apparently, so I wanted to do...

RA100 GAS cured by Oz prices

Had GAS for a RA100 until I checked local price in Australia; AUD$4k here USD$2k there Convert currency = AUD$2300 add 10% local tax = AUD$2530 That leaves around AUD$1500 for shipping from USA. I can fly round trip Sydney to LA for between AUD$1100 and AUD$1400. Oh, the pain! Futile bleat...

Pedal board with Dual Recto help sought

Trying to work out the best way to organize my board. here's a diagram of how I have it now; Is this the best way to do it? In particular I'm not sure about whether I should be using the Mesa Dual Rectifier's FX loop (parallel loop). To compound my confusion the G-String Decimator noise...

    Strange noise

My 3ch Dual recto started to sound very sick so I got it retubed and serviced. When I got it back it sounded greatly improved. However I have noticed that when I play a higher note at high gain settings, the note seems to have a bump in the sustain as it decays. It's like the note "breaks" just...

    FX loop rotary control basics

The Assign rotary control on the back panel for the FX loop has 6 settings (going off the manual as amp is in workshop); Loop On Channel 1 Channel 2 Channel 3 FTSW Loop Bypass Here is what the manual says about this control; An ASSIGN rotary control that allows you to have any combination of...

Combine my DR rig with a Krankenstein+ rig?

I have a 100W Mesa 3ch DR and Recto 4x12 cab. My friend has a Krankenstein+ 120W head and 4x12 Krankenstein cab (150W Eminence Texas heat speakers). Below are photos of the back panels of the heads and cabs. We want to experiment with swapping cabs. Then further to this, maybe even playing...

Wet Reverb pedals & parallel loop

Looking at either the Neunaber Wet or Wet Stereo reverb pedal. The stereo version has many advantages like the ability to upgrade the software and a tone control (as well as the stereo function, which I won't use much). However one drawback is the fact that it cannot produce a 100% wet signal...

    DR volume levels

When I have everything set to 12'O'clock on the clean channel and I plug my Strat in, the volume from my DR + Recto 4 x 12 is at a decent bedroom level, certainly not what you would call loud. Is this normal? It seems quiet. I thought maybe it was the guitar, so I tried my LP at the same...

    ISP noise gates

I know I want a noise gate. I have a Mesa 3 channel DR. My research so far seems to indicate ISP Decimators are the best. The question is whether to get the standard model or the more expensive G String model (which can be used in the loop) Some of the technical advice on the differences...

    1 x 12 for DR?

I'm getting tired of lugging my Recto 4 x 12 cab when it's not really needed. Can I use a 1 x 12 cab with my 3 ch DR? If so, what would be a reasonably priced one? Orange 1 x 12 cab? Are there any pitfalls in using a 1 x 12 cab with my DR? I guess I could blow the cab up. Would this rig sound...

    Mesa tube prices in Australia

I've been advised by an experienced Mesa tech in Australia at the importer's shop to stick with Mesa tubes for my 3ch DR to avoid problems that I have had and to keep my amp running the best for the longest time. I realize we pay extra down here. However I found this; 6L6 STR-440 USD$42 per...

    DR keeps losing its volume

My 3 ch DR seems to be repeating a pattern of working well for about 20 hours of use then something "goes" and I lose a huge amount of volume and gain loses all its bite. It is still playable as a practice amp but 90% volume has gone. This is followed by me swapping valves like crazy. Last two...

    FX loop 101

I have finally decided to just stop using my pedals the old fashioned way (strung together between guitar and amp input) and work out how the FX loop is used. I went to the manual but could make neither head nor tail of any of it. It is mainly the language used I guess. Processor's input...

    How cool before re tube?

How long after stopping playing and switching the amp off (3ch DR) should I wait before re tubing? Should they be dead cold? I have a bunch of new tubes and am experimenting.

Can weird tube combos screw my amp?

If you get it wrong can using the wrong tubes screw your amp? The reason I ask is I am thinking of putting my faith (as I have no knowledge) in Eurotubes' re tube sets for DRs as detailed here. I was interested in the "Mesa Dual Rec My Personal Fave" near the bootom of the linked page. It reads...

Plan for re-tubing my 3ch DR

I am going to re-tube my 3ch DR. After some research, here are my remaining options. Any help appreciated. If you think I am making any mistakes (maybe technical issues as I have no clue) please, somebody stop me. 6L6 SED SV6L6GC (are these what are known as "Winged Cs?") OR Tung-Sol 6L6 STR...

    Matching tubes in 3ch DR

I am going to retube my 3ch DR. Can anyone provide info (or direct me to a link) about matching tubes? If I get a cocktail of 5 preamp tubes do they have to somehow be "matched". What if say later on V1 blows and I have to replace it, how can I ensure the new V1 is "matched" to what is already...
