How to record my Mark V with my M Audio Delta 192 PCI card

Why the hell would any want to go direct out and then use some amp sims? When you already have a great amp? Going direct is not the way to go! You need a mic in front of the speaker.. No amp sim will ever sound as good as that! EVER! Why? because there is no air being moved.. Even the pre on a...

    more single rec tone

Heres another song me and my band are working on.. I sing and play guitar and we are only a 3 piece ;) I only have about 45 mins into mixing this, so its kinda rough.. But the guitar tone is pretty decent I think. Used a cascade fat head with an sm57.. No eq or compression has been used on...

Single Rec tone with texas heats / Cascade fathead / sm57

Its all good man! I'll get the drums to sound massive as well. I would like to add that the single rec has EL34's in and not the standard 6L6GC.. V1 is a tung sol V2 V3 are both sovteks v4 is a mesa and v5 which is the inverter is a NOS mullard 12at7. Guitar is a Korean made Dean Icon with...

Single Rec tone with texas heats / Cascade fathead / sm57

Thanks! yeah the drums need a ton of mixing, everything on the drums was pretty much raw except the kick drum its the only thing I have messed with .. The bass was done with an epi thunderbird and a mesa boogie titan v12! running through a 1x12 avatar bass cab that I use only for recording...

Single Rec tone with texas heats / Cascade fathead / sm57

Heres a snippet of tone from a song my band is working on. I did this with a single rec / cab with texas heats / cascade fat head mic and an sm57 mic. no impulses or pedals.. right into the amp. The guitar tracks are raw no eq .. just a little fader adjustment...

    how to get protools?

Its pretty easy to work with files from any DAW... the trick is to consolidate your files... that means making all of your tracks start at 0 and 0'd out on your faders and panning ... then you can just drag and drop your wavs in to any daw and work with them from there... granted the sessions...

    Post removed.

If you can't get a good tone with an sm57 you are doing it wrong, plain and simple. And yes they do work very well on vocals.. www.burnstudios.com 1st and 3rd songs both guitars and vocals were done with an sm57

    Mac vs PC

I would build a nice i5/i7 pc and use Reaper as the DAW. Reaper is cheap and building a pc yourself will save money that can go towards a nice interface and some pre's. Ive been recording on a pc for over 10 years, and never once have I had a session get canned because pc problems/bsod's or...

Planning to buy a new computer for recording

I beg to differ that an sm57 is not ideal for vocals. I use one all the time for rock and rap vocals with great results, its gets that midrange goodness that a LDC wont get.. But you have to pair the 57 with a decent mic pre... If you go and listen to the first song on my page...

Using the "Pull Deep" with recording.

Try it both ways, then a/b them to find the one that sits in the mix the best. There is a fine line between the low frequency's of the kick drum and bass drum, let alone adding more bottom end with your guitar tone.

    Mac vs PC

heheh Yes my wife gets on to me all the time for saying things like that... It comes from most of the bands I get in here are mostly younger.

    Mac vs PC

That is not the argument here... the argument is that you can build a better DAW out of pc than you can a mac. The only reason mac/apple pro tools has been the *standard* for so many years is, that when digidesign/midiman started making recording hardware they used mac hardware... simply for...

    Mac vs PC

It only sucks for noobs  You say you bought a mac 5 years ago because they started to use Intel boards and cpu's, they didnt start using Intel till 2006/2007 Plus a DAW has no business being hooked up to the internet, hooked up to your network might be ok. But getting online to surf...

    Mac vs PC

Ive been running a pc based DAW since windows 95 ... And never had a virus or a trojan. That pc should have never been hooked up to the internet. No real recording DAW should be on the net at all. For those that are *in the know* Macs are very very over priced and not worth the hardware...
