my JP2c sounds weak and frail, it has no balls.

I noticed this as well when I first got the amp and I ended up calling Mesa on it. Turns out, it's not an issue at all but rather a natural side affect from the spring reverb. The way the tech explained it to me is that the springs are still vibrating and that noise is left over in the tank...

my JP2c sounds weak and frail, it has no balls.

Please post a pic of your settings. It could possibly be a lemon, but just in case. I have a Triple rec next to my JP2C and the JP kills the rec in tone and tightness but it took a while to find the right tone.

Anyone played their JP-2C through a Marshall 1960 cab?

I have another cab that I bought used, have yet to figure out what kind of cab it is, but it is loaded with gt12-85's. It has a half open back, and to tell you the truth it sounds great. I only have to make a few small adjustments to the EQ to get is sounding the way I like, but in comparison to...

    JP-2C reliability

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with yours, as mine has been nothing short of great in every way. I use mine about 4-5 times a week for practice in the studio as well as gigging about twice a month. I've had the amp since the first ones came out earlier this year and have yet (knock on wood)...

    Cabinet Pairing with JP-2C

I use mainly the mesa 2x12 horizontal, and you can definitely get that grit you're talking about. It's definitely something to do with the V30's that these mesa heads really come alive with. One thing to mention is that you'll have to crank the volume a bit more than you would to get the...

    JP2C disappointment

Here are my current settings, try them out and see if you have any luck https://www.dropbox.com/s/2bckm9em05duz55/2016-09-06%2015.24.59.jpg?dl=0

    JP2C disappointment

It all depends on the tone that you're trying to get. If you're going for more of a modern sound for hard rock or metal, I'd recommend scooping those mids on both the channel and the EQ. Look in the manual as well and they have some settings to start out with. I haven't found a tone I don't like...

    Using Midi On the JP2C

The way I have my set up at home is use the cab clone built in the head to send the signal to my audio interface and then use my studio monitors to play it back to me. I do this so I don't wake the baby, or blow his ear drums out haha! If I want to mess with some amp modeling, I'll just plug my...

    Using Midi On the JP2C

I will say that for myself using scenes really makes it easy. Once I have everything programmed, once on stage all i have to do is hit one button and everything is there. If you were considering upgrading for something like that I'd recommend the RJM. And honestly if you're not using the amp...

    Using Midi On the JP2C

It sounds like you might need a midi controller like the Mastermind GT from RJM Music Technology. With that you can send midi message to your axe fx for scene selection and also use a midi out from axe fx to your amp containing the midi message for the amp.

    Using Midi On the JP2C

You can most definitely still use the Axe-fx and a midi foot controller such as the MFC101. This is how John Petrucci does it. His set up is a bit more complex.

    Using Midi On the JP2C

My plan is to start figuring out scenes this week. I'll let you know how it turns out... Easiest way of doing it will be on the computer. First set up your effect blocks 1-8 of what you would want to use. When you create your scene, you can chose what effects you want on or off and also x or...

The fx8 mark II isn't even out yet. How is that possible?

    JP-2C and Helix

This is the exactly reason why after I got my JP2C I noticed just how bad the effects in my POD hd500x were. I immediately got a deal on a Fractal fx8 unit and haven't looked back once to Line6. Got my FX8 hooked up and it's completely silent, effects are world class, no tone suck at all from...

    Effects...What are you using?

Up until now I've been using a line6 pod hd500x. Since getting the jp-2c I've realized just how bad the effects are from that multi-fx when played through an amp as good as the JP-2c. I have since ordered, and should receive by next weekend a Fractal Audio FX8, purely for the fx.

    jp2c cabinet choice

I've been using the Boogie 2x12 for recording and small venues. My other choice is the angled large recto cab

    JP-2C issue

Are you getting any sound at all when you play your guitar? Or is this tone you're hearing coming through when nothing is being played but everything is on and plugged in?

    Speaker/cab thoughts

I went with the horizontal 2x12 mainly since I wanted something a little more portable and since I have a few other 4x12's already. The 2x12 really impresses me. I play it with my band now and sounds great! It sounds even better to record with, tight low end, focus mids, bright sparkly highs. I...
