2:90 as stand alone amp and pedal platform?

Yes, all Mesa power amps have a preamp section, and act just like a super clean amp.

Quieting Mesa power amp fan noise?

I ended up putting a 180ohm 4w resistor on the positive lead to the fan, and replaced it with a PC power supply fan (ADDA brand). It moves a bit of air and is almost silent.

    switching/isolating channels with triaxis/2:50 set

Technically you could put another A/B between the existing A/B and the Mesa, and it could control the signal for each channel on the Mesa.

    Analog pedalboard into 50/50

Should work great, you need a stereo signal to use both channels though.

    switching/isolating channels with triaxis/2:50 set

I'm confused? How are you runnig a 5150 (or whatever is available) through one side of the 2:50? You can't switch channels on the 2:50 itself, you can have a device mute the signal going to one side or the other, which would have the same effect.

How to use 5150III power amp with Quad preamp

Run a mono signal from the Preamp output, into the 5153 FX return jack. Be aware the volume on the Pre will control volume, the controls on the 5153 will do nothing, and it will be as if the master volume is wide open.

    2:100 modern mode...

Love this amp, it's just too hot and fan too loud for my needs. So I'll take her back to GC. Just ordered a 2:50 from Mesa Hollywood to replace her.

Witch Power amp for my Rectifier Recording Pre-Amp

You can get a good tone even at very low volumes from all Mesa amps, it just rquires some tweaking of the controls, and setting them with your ears, not your eyes.

    2:100 modern mode...

OK, so the mini toggle replacing the jack is a no go, the jack is mounted on the I/O PCB with the rest of the jacks. I made two solutions, one is a a 1/4" TS plug with the sleeve solder point cut down to about 1/4", and folded on top of the tip solder point, and soldered to it. I then glued two...

Witch Power amp for my Rectifier Recording Pre-Amp

The 2:100 is made for it, with dedicated Recto Preamp inputs and modern mode jack. The thing is an absolute beast though. I thought the Recto pre sounded good with my old 2:50, but I would think the 2:90 would sound better than the 2:50. The 2:90 is also the most feature rich Mesa power amp. The...

My Mesa Studio Preamp does a weird thing

Possibly a thermal conductive resistor or part of the PCB becoming comductive under thermal stress.

    2:100 modern mode...

If that's the case, I think I'm just going to pull the jack off the panel, leave it hanging inside with a TS cable plugged into it (heat shrinked of course), and wire the cable end to a mini toggle, and mount it in the hole.

    2:100 modern mode...

So it just uses an open/closed signal like a footswitch?

    2:100 modern mode...

Is there a way to engage it without a Triaxis or Recto preamp?

    Problems with Studio Pre

Get at least one good 12AX7 to swap in each position for testing.

    2:50/Triaxis feedback issues are back

Any tube can become microphnic, and despite what people will tell you, all preamp tubes can cause feedback when microphonic, even phase splitters. So start swapping out preamp tubes in both, with a known good tube, until you find the culrprit. Also a bad pick up in your guitar can cause this as...

Shout out to Mesa, here's to you Petaluma.

Yeah, my first was a 2ch Rev G Tri-Rec I ound in a pawn shop for $699, walked out with it for $642. The build quality on those was insane, almost as good as a point to point. I regret selling it now, even though it lead me to my current rig, it was a special amp to me and I would love to have it...

Megadeth Festival = No amps anywhere for ALL bands!!!

Yeah, most big touring bands use rack rigs backstage with iso-cabs. A lot still use tube amps and pedals chains, just racked and maybe a backup amp in there that's not used. Then in ear monitors of course.

    Gotta have volume!

Which is why a slant 2x12 or 4x12 is important as well, or tilting back your combo. Projection adds a lot to sustain and sensitivity.
