Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

I would like to see a MkIIC+ reissue just as much as the next person. However, for me it would have to come in with a price below the MkVII. It seems pre-determined that, no matter what Mesa/Boogie could theoretically do, the original would sound "better" than a reissue. (I don't necessarily...

Should Mesa Boogie reissue the Mark IIC+ ?

If Marshall can reissue their JTM 45, Plexi, JCM 800, and Silver Jubilee, it only seems logical that Mesa/Boogie can make the IIC+. Update it with a detachable IEC power cable, tube cage, and whatever safety regulations are necessary, and get it on the shelves. They will fly out the door...

Help identifying Mark Series [CUSTOM RESTORATION]

I don't know how much help I can be to you Matador but I'll give it a shot. On the outside, it looks like a IIB to me. (The inside is a different story!) As far as the markings go, HG 15" would mean 100/60 watt wide chassis. (The wide chassis would move either the Presence or Reverb to the...

Should I convert my HR IIc+ to DR?

And so, how does it compare to the DRX?

    '80 Mark IIA

Be careful not to overpower that speaker! At the 60 watt setting, you're probably okay for a while. However, "they" usually say to double the amp's wattage when selecting the power rating of a speaker. E.g. for a 100 watt amp, a 200 watt speaker is safe.

    Where is Mike Bendinelli's shop?

I picked up a couple of covers from his son at Studio Slips last year. He said it (i.e. retirement) was probably going to happen "soon". Not straight from the horse's mouth, but pretty darn close. This was prior to the Gibson announcement, so I don't know if that changed the timeline at all...

Mark III as a One channel amp and never look back

I don't consider the MkIII as a 3-channel amp, but rather a 1-channel amp with 3 footswitchable modes. In fact, the Mesa/Boogie Operating Instructions calls the commonly referred to "channels" modes too. I.e. "Fender mode", "Marshall mode" and "MESA-Boogie" mode.

    Mk III/IV reverb tank covers

I purchased one last year from Mesa for my Mk III. It's not in the Shop on their website, but you can get it by emailing or perhaps calling. Here's the part information: 221675 (Chassis Cover Reverb Tank 16-3/4X4-1/4)

    Mark III R2 gain mod

Where do you have your Volume and Treble set? These controls will have an affect on the gain in all channels. You may have to adjust them and compensate elsewhere, e.g. Presence and GEQ if you have it.

Should I convert my HR IIc+ to DR?

If you already have a SimulClass IIC+ with the DRX, what are you hoping to gain with another one? Wouldn't that make them closer in sound? (I'm not sure what the voltage differences are between the 100PT and the Export.) Is the HR simply a backup for the DRX? If so, maybe consider it. If...

Mk III Blue Stripe - Class A Class AB switch

My Mark III DRG Blue Stripe is labeled Simul Class in the up position and Class A in the down position. Perhaps the shop owner is mistaken...?

    What's your fave speaker?

Sorry, I don’t have the answer to that question. You might try Eminence, but I have a feeling they will tell you it is an exclusive speaker and can’t reveal any differences. However, the Fillmore is based on Mesa/Boogie’s favorite old Vintage 30 and the CV-75 is modeled after the Vintage 30...

    What's your fave speaker?

The CV-75 would be the closest to the FM-75. https://www.eminence.com/speakers/speaker-detail/?model=CV-75

Looking for Enter Sandman tone settings on Mark 35.

You might want to play with the mid settings a bit. In a recent "Tone Talk" episode on YouTube, Bob Rock explained that a Jose-modded Marshall was utilized to dial in some of the midrange that was missing. (He also claimed that the main Mesa/Boogie was a Mk III. Not too sure about that. I'd...

Mark IV mod to get closer to III?

Tiger1016, I can't speak to any mods for the Mk IV. You might try some different, i.e. lower gain, preamp tubes to try and tame the compression. Whether or not that would get you into Mk III territory I don't know. I do know it is absolutely possible to feed two preamps into one power amp. I...

Picked up an early Mark III...

You might want to send GJgo a message. He has a IIB+ that I believe is his Mark of choice. You can also check him out on YouTube where he demos it along with many other Boogies: https://www.youtube.com/user/fast13b

    Mark III Speaker/Cabinet Recommendations

Hi folks, I have a MkIII Blue Stripe EVM combo that I plan to get modded (++) and converted to a head. I was hoping to get some advice on a 2x12 cabinet to pair the head with. (Don't really have the space or need for a 4x12, and I'm not too keen on a pair of 1x12s.) So far, the contenders...
