    ''Caliber history''

I own a DC5A combo model 0009. It has metal toggles. I also prefer it to a "B" version as I use the clean channel as my main.

Replace a MK III or Try a DC-5?

+1 I bought one new in 92, still gigging with it. Rock solid, never an issue, has never let me down! The above mentioned mods are neccesary for best performance. I use clean channel with OD's and there are a ton of tones to be had. You won't be disappointed.

    Suggestions regarding OD channel

Every amp (4 differant types) I have put EH tubes in become grainier in overdrive. I found then fine for cleans (top end chime) but not so much for dirtier tones. My .02

    DC-5 preamp valves placement onboard?

V5 is the reverb tube. Pull V5 tube going left to right and check your reverb, then check the other way and you should have your answer. I believe V1 is nearest input.

Extension Cabinet Ideas For DC-3 Combo

I'm assuming you have a Mesa horizontal 2x12 cab. Have you looked at a Mesa vertical 2x12 cab?

    DC-5 vs Mark IV

I agree that the lead channel is voiced similar (not exact) to the Rectos. The 1st channel is Mk all the way. (This is the channel I use with boost pedals) It is wired so each tone pot dominates the next one in line when turned past 5,(see manual for a better discription) like some of the MK...

    DC5 Combo

your on the right track so far. The speaker being 16 ohms will not have damaged your amp because there was either a 4 or 8 ohm load (lower number) going to the speaker. If it was 16ohms going into an 8 ohm speaker then you got problems. Do your tube change first. I would also look into a cap...

DC series: A dark sounding amp?

IMO it is a dark amp. But it is easy to get a bright tone through the clean channel with some pedal boost. A very versitile amp.

    DC-5 vs Mark IV

Dirty MK/Clean DC5 would be wonderful IMO.

    Post your pedalboard

Boss pedals are dominating this thread. They are inexpensive, reliable, and most everybody has some either on they're board or on the shelf as a backup for the boutiquey stuff. I just love that!

Where are all the Princeton Boost amps?

And it looks like more are on the way. Read some stuff here and there about people taking on the task. I guess it's just a short story with not much to be told. I'll still keep digging though. I'm curious as to how close the early MK1's sound was to those amps. I'm gonna find the earliest MK(or...

Where are all the Princeton Boost amps?

Are the amps really this elusive? Nobody knows nothing about these at all? Bueller Bueller

Mesa Recto Vertical 2x12 vs Horizontal 2x12 (more input...)

I have one of each and I like the vert cab better for one reason. The top speaker in the cab is at a perfect height for me. I have a combo and find when the combo's speaker is engaged with the cab it is too high up to my ears. So I play gigs using the combo just as a head. Simple reason but...

My Mark IV and I had a fight last night.

If you really want to open up a can of worms on this subject try this. 1st, Set and tweak untill you are happy and in sonic heaven. 2nd,BLOW YOUR NOSE! I stumbled on this when I was tweaking one night. I found what I was looking for tonewise, went upstairs, blew my nose (which cleared my ears)...

Where are all the Princeton Boost amps?

I have been reading up on the history of the Boogies and I am wondering if anyone here has ever owned, played through, seen or heard any of the Prune Music Princeton Boost amps that were the first boogies. From what I read there were supposedly 200-300 of these built. I also read that alot of...
