Hey guys. I recently bought a used Rectoverb 50 Series 2 and it works great. However, the FX loop is noisy! What could be causing this? Or is this normal?
Have you changed the FX Loop buffer tube?

Re: Triple rec noob and Zuul question

If the amp has a FX loop mix knob, that means it is a parallel FX loop. If you are using a noise gate in the loop you should have the mix at 100%. Just note that even with the mix at 100% a small amount of signal will still bypass the loop in the parallel signal path. Where you place your noise gate...

Re: Triple Rectifier and Randall RH300

If it was only in standby the speakers should have nothing to do with this. 4 ohms off of the 8 ohm tap, while not ideal, would not hurt the amp if played that way either. Perhaps your buddy used an instrument cable instead of a speaker cable and did not have the amp in standby? Did the fuse blow? R...

Re: EQ into TC50

I thought I would update that I’ve gone back to a Graphic EQ, the Depthfinder was cool but it does something funky in the high mids/treble that just didn’t jive with me. I’m using the Source Audio EQ2 and playing in stereo. Best EQ I have ever had on my board. Super quiet and it’s great to have EQ p...

Re: Twins !

That is a sweet rig. I have never had a stereo rig at a gig, probably because I am just to lazy to mess with all the gear! Interesting knobs on your TC-100s, there. What’s the story with the gray and red/blue knobs? Good eye! The gray knobs are the channel masters, makes them easy to find on stage ...

Man, why did I wait so long LOL. Most of the places we play are smaller bars where I don’t need to be in the PA, this ...

Re: 6L6 str 441 make and model?

I know there’s been confusion on other threads about not using Mesa tubes voiding your warranty. I’ve talked to the owner of Mesa Hollywood on a couple occasions and he said that’s false, since they obviously use 3rd Party tubes from Tung Sol stamped Mesa anyways. Your statement above was misleadin...

Re: Mark V Shutdown

There is no HT fuse in Mesa amps. The OT has absolutely nothing to do with the power supply of the amp. This sounds like a bad diode in the rectification circuit of the power supply, a problem that has plagued a few MKV’s due to a bad batch of diodes from a previous supplier. Don’t go blindly poking...

Re: 6L6 str 441 make and model?

Using any tubes other than Mesa branded tubes voids your warranty, period. Everybody already knows that Mesa does not make tubes, they never have. They have always used Sovtek, Shuguang, etc since day one, their current 12AX7 is a Mesa branded JJ ECC83S. There are only a small handful of vacuum tub...

Re: Mesa 6L6 tube set - different heights

Hi everyone and happy new year! I bought a new set (pair) of STR440 6L6 tubes few days ago and, while they work just fine, I noticed that one tube is slightly taller than the other, around 3-4 mm difference. Tubes are matched of course, with the same colour and number coding. Has anyone noticed the...

Re: Current Rectifier model differences & low volume sound

I'd like to buy my first Mesa amp, and I'm after that modern pre-amp high-gain Rectifier sound as heard on hard rock and/or metal records from the 1990s. I have two somewhat related questions here. 1. Mini Rectifier and Rectoverb heads - these have different pre- and power-amp tubes than Dual Recti...

Re: EQ into TC50

I’ve tried the Mesa 5BEQ, the Boss GE-7, and the MXR 10 band M-108 with my TC-100. All three do a great job of tone shaping with the amp. I also own a Wampler Equator semi-parametric EQ which I find works better out front. With that said, I don’t use any of them anymore. IMO the Triple Crown is very...
