The Yamaha HS80m's are great, IMO. I've been using them for a couple years now, and my mixes have translated well (to my ears). For the price, they're real nice IMO.

When you say "shimmer", are you looking for reverb, chorus, maybe detune? A combination of either can produce a killer shimmer effect. There are a bunch of pedal or rack units that can produce a shimmer. Which are you looking for?

I own Amplitube LE, which IMO is total crap. BUT I have been told the LE version doesn't compare the the later versions. That being said, I've "heard" many samples of Guitar Rig that are far superior to any Amplitube samples I've heard. So it I were to take a gamble, I'd go with GR.

Why not get the best of both worlds, and use a pedal switcher that is true bypass and gives you the option to use either a buffered or non buffered input.
