Channel 3 not working correctly on Mark V

The buyer has been beyond understanding. He sent it to a tech and said the cost to fix should not be major, probably less than 60 bucks. In the meantime he said he LOVES channels 1 and 2 and is excited to hear channel 3. My funds have already been released from paypal now. I will continue to...

Channel 3 not working correctly on Mark V

Unfortunately it is not under warranty. I am torn because I packed it well and verified it worked before hand. When he got it, it instantly blew two fuses, the reverb tank was unplugged, and now this issue with channel 3. The money is still in "limbo" with paypal and I don't really want bad...

Channel 3 not working correctly on Mark V

I sold a Mark V on ebay last week and the new owner is having issues with channel 3. I played through the amp before I sent it and it worked perfectly. My guess is maybe it took a little bump during shipping. Luckily this guy is being very patient and allowing me to help before asking for a...

NGD - Gibson Les Paul Traditional

    Very classy looking guitar. Congratulations!

    OD in front - Wow!

Believe it or not, I use a cheap little Digitech Bad Monkey out front. Even with channel 3. I put all of the knobs at 12:00 and leave it on. Like you said, not much gain, but something about it just sounds beefier and it's not over the top like a typical distortion pedal. Don't let the name and...

    Not so clean

I've played through 4 Mark V's, and all of them had the same clear, crystal cleans. I'd say there has to be an issue with your amp. I use fairly high output Bareknuckle pickups and have my gain on channel 1 set right at 12:00. No breakup even at gig volumes. Channel 1 was actually the first...

    PRS "factory"

In general, I'd take the consistency of a machine over the hands of a vulnerable human any day. But yeah, I doubt he had a bunch of people in there like oompa-loompa's handmaking guitars around the clock.

PRS + Mesa... why do they work so well together?

The PRS/Mesa combo has become a classic. Just a great vibe to the pair. I wouldn't trade my Cu24/Mark V combo for anything else!

    Anyone own a PRS SE?

Hi David, I am a mod on the PRS forum and look forward to seeing you there! To keep it short and simple, that guitar would be just fine. I can vouch for the SE line personally. And great choice in artists. Tim rocks!

Are good cables REALLY worth the extra dosh?

I consider myself to have a decent ear at this point when it comes to noticing small differences in tone. With that being said, can't say if you switch out all my cables on me that I would really notice anything.

PRS SE vs the real thing?

There is a certain integrity I feel with the US models that I feel with no other brand, but the SE's definitely hold their own. You get some minor expected things from time to time like tuning stability, but nothing that would make or break ya. I've used an SE Cu24 as a spare along side a US...

    Favorite PRS Artists?

Tim Mahoney by far. Such a tasteful, underrated player with driving rhythms and musical/melodic leads. He has been a big influence on my gear selections over the past several years. I also really like the tones from the boys of Opeth. I believe they use PRS guitars with Laney amps. I can't...

Noise problem with FX loop active

Due to lack of extra tubes, I haven't done any troubleshooting as far as that route. Definitely something I will do though. Was hoping to maybe make a discovery before that if possible. I only have one pedal in the loop and it is a Visual Sound H2O chorus/delay. The noise is there even if its...

    Mesa Boogie Mark V Reliable?

I've got one of the first 500 made, not one issue what-so-ever. Most dependable tube amp I've ever owned.

Noise problem with FX loop active

Whenever my FX loop is bypassed (using master volume only), the amp is quiet as can be even at high volume/gain settings. Very little humming or feedback. When I activate the FX loop, I start to get some noise problems. The more I turn up the output on the front of the amp, the worse it gets...
