    Mesa Quad problem, microphonic tube?

Ive had this issue within the last week, whenver I turn up Master and Lead Master on Channel 1 Lead i get an incredibly high pitched squeal, Ive never had this issue before. Im guessing its a microphonc tube? I turned off the sound at the speakers, and when I cranked the knbos in question the...

How does the effects loop work in the Quad/Studio preamp?

Thats pretty cool, for now im stuck with it as im playing direct, the recording out makes a huge difference in tone. Might sound like a dumb question but do you know if you can plug straight into the effects loop, and completely bypass the input 'Instrument' jack? I guess the relevant front...

How does the effects loop work in the Quad/Studio preamp?

Theres no explanation in the manual, since effects loops are normally post preamp, im puzzled as to what stage the effects loop signal is situated in these preamps, I assume its post tone stack (after the stage that the main knobs on the front deal with) but pre amplification?

Kirk Hammett lead tone from the Quad, has anyone got close?

So he played Cat Scratch Fever and it sounded like him? Who would have guessed... As for my above post, yes or no, does that not sound almost exactly like Allan Holdsworth? You still ignored my question as to why players chose certain amps, if the amp is irrelevant and that the tone is all in...

Kirk Hammett lead tone from the Quad, has anyone got close?

Tone is not in the fingers, playing style is, you cant turn a Marshall into a Soldano with your fretting technique, those amps put out very different tones This sounds unmistakeably like Allan Holdsworths tone, because the guy is using the preamp Holdsworth used...

Kirk Hammett lead tone from the Quad, has anyone got close?

Of course Ted Nugent still sounds like Ted Nugent playing through Eddies amp, hes not going to suddenly change playing style and start finger tapping, but theres no way Eddie could get his tone from Ted Nugents setup, theres a reason players use the specific gear they use and obsess over it...

Kirk Hammett lead tone from the Quad, has anyone got close?

Tone is pretty much all from gear, otherwise there would be 0 need for the vast variety of amps/gear on the market.

Kirk Hammett lead tone from the Quad, has anyone got close?

Can't for the life of me figure out how to get in the ballpark even with a parametric in the loop, its quite saturated, I know hes not using wah either. https://youtu.be/tALlt64GM_U?t=34

Just bought my first Mesa, a Quad Preamp, struggling to get diverse tones from it.

Im back now after playing with the Quad for a while. My sentiments have changed. A 4 band parametric EQ is an absolute requirement for this thing for it to sound good imo, if you are using it for distortion at least. Nothing less. I got a crushing Chaos A.D. era Sepultura tone on Channel 2 and...

Just bought my first Mesa, a Quad Preamp, struggling to get diverse tones from it.

I've read up on the tone stack controls, treble makes mids and bass knobs redundant at high settings etc. Channel 1, the MK IIC, the only thing I've been able to get out of it is a very convincing Metallica lead tone. Channel 2 lead is very lacklustre. Ive read these amps are like chamaleons...
