Studio Preamp Switching and Dimming LED’s

I was able to order the correct parts directly from Mesa. On a side note, the activity here sure seems to have dropped. Used to be much more responsiveness on topics even if the members were not intimate with the topic. Just an observation, this still a great forum with amazing members and...

Anyone have a current source for quality LDR’s? I’m planning on calling Mesa next week to see if they’ll ship.

Studio Preamp Switching and Dimming LED’s

Hey everyone, I’ve been away for some time. Been enjoying playing life with my Lonestar. I recently switched to a direct stereo setup and pulled the Studio Pre back into service. She sounds great, but recently I’ve noticed a few oddities. Some I can work around, some that need a solution pretty...

Anybody Work In More Than One Band?

I've seen this as well. Depending on the situation, it's often not a good idea. I know some players that are in several 'working' bands. What it really is is a bunch of players pulling gigs to earn side cash. It almost always is given the least amount of dedication in order to meet the...

Anybody Work In More Than One Band?

I play in two bands. One every Sunday at church (FBC-Plano, TX), the other an all original band (Racing Gravity). It's a very good situation. Both bands are all pro players who come prepared and love to play. We never have conflicts on Sundays because several members of RG are worship leaders. I...

Has anyone ever made a low watt IIC+ clone amp.

If you really want to butter your bread, pair the Studio Pre with a 1st gen Fifty/Fifty, Simul Sat or Mark IV power section. Something very special happens when it pushes that 6L6 Quad circuit. It's hard to quantify, but your heart will sing a new song... I've also found that it LOVES when you...

mesa studio preamp... need more saturation

I've found the Studio Pre really responds well to tube changes. I swapped out the 12AX7's that were in it when I got it and rolled various vintage tubes through it. The difference was unexpected. It went from great with a bit of flubb to OMG is this the same preamp?! I cant over stress the...

my book on building pro guitar rigs is out!

Ask Alex if he remembers me in NY behind the Palladium in 1979 reaching into his limo for an autograph as they were pulling away after the Hemisphere's concert... Great book, and reference!

Here's one way to tell. MKIVa has two mono EFX loops (normal & switchable) MKIVb has one loop (single send with stereo returns) MKIVa MKIVb

Found a tube in old tape recorder (pics inside)

Love that tube. I have several Amperex Harleen I65's, mostly the Hammond versions. They really do add something special wherever I put them. Congrats on a nice find.
