I have a DC-5b combo and I usually run it through a Marshall 1960B with V30/75s in an X-pattern. Sounds bitchin!
If I want a more "Fendery" sound, I just use the combo speaker.
Plug her in and let it rip! If you have the DC-5 manual, you can use some of the suggested settings as starting points.
One of the really cool things about these amps is that as you spin the knobs you'll find that there aren't any bad sounds, just different sounds.
****, I hate to see you let your stuff go. Congrats on the wedding, but isn't there any other way to raise money?
I don't believe that I've ever come across anyone who's sold their rig and NOT regretted it.
I just use plain old Mesa tubes. Yeah, I know I'm boring... but I also know that they have been tested and have passed Mesa standards. Also, they will work for me every time.
How much difference will a Mercury output transformer make to a stock DC-5, esp if that is the only mod?
How about on a Marshall DSL 50 (I know - not a Boogie)?
Just curious... or do you need other mods to go with the transformer to really make any difference?
