Yep good advice. Some amps apply tone settings first and then amplify, others amplify first and apply tone afterwards. (Pre-gain versus post-gain EQ...) Practically speaking, I'd say Mark series amps are optimized for their lead tone (they also have great cleans) but can do with some tone...

I would definitely get a head plus cab. Sound/electronics wise they're identical but it makes lugging a lot easier. I love my IIC+ 1x12 combo but it is pretty heavy and I imagine the V will be even heavier! As for 1x12 versus 2x12? Well my 1x12 completely smoked the other guitarist's Marshall...

I have a 2ch DR, its loop works pretty well with digital and analog devices. I wonder if all your pre-amp tubes are in top shape? You can swap tubes around (but label them or something because if you're like me you'll forget which tube was where. Or if you have some innocuous analog pedal test...

They are absolute rubbish, and to help you out, just then them to me and I'll dispose of them for you :-) Ha ha, nah, they're great, my C+ came with a quartet only problem is to hear any kind of power tube overdrive in my music room I need to practically deafen myself. Good catch.

Yeah I agree! I have a C+, Triaxis, Quad, Dual Recto (2ch) and a Subway Rocket. I really like my DR - but that's the reason I went away from Marshall - it was Marshall, Marshall, or Marshall - it's one sound with different amounts of gain. The DR is pretty well the same in a Rectifier way...
