Greetings. I want to re cap my C+. Question: I read to make it easier would be to clip off leads of old caps and install new caps to the leads. Does anyone think this is a good idea? I'm not convinced yet. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim

It's not easier to do that and it's not faster and it's not better. The only reason to do that is if you're super paranoid about lifting a trace off the PC board. But that's not going to happen if you have a reasonable amount of skill with a soldering iron, properly desolder the connections, clean the excess solder off, install the new components correctly, and don't force anything. Apply enough solder to do the job, and no more than that. Big globs are not necessary!

You want your soldering to look like example no. 5 here.
