Hi gals 'n guys,

Im playing on a Mesa 50/50 poweramp, paired with a Studio Preamp (IIC+ modded).

I can buy a 2:90 now, but my question:
does it add something, tone wise?

Cause the 50/50 gives me volume enough.
However, it sounds a bit too bright and cold or something...
Harsh maybe.

I've had both. I liked the 50/50, didn't feel like the 2:90 was a step up. If you think the 50/50 is "cold", the 2:90 will be running even colder, as it has more headroom.

As I understand it, the 50/50 was designed to be a mark power stage to mate with the studio preamp to give essentially a Mark amp in stereo.

The 2:90 was designed to mate with the Triaxis and get a variety of tones.

The 2:90 is simul-class, where the 50/50 is not. If you prefer simul-class, then that's your amp.

Thank you.
Last Thursday, I paid a visit to the kind gentleman that is selling the 2:90.
I could bring all my own gear into his house and really take my time testing.

Long story short:
the 50/50 had the 2:90 for breakfast.
