Does anyone know what brand of tubes theser are? Sleventa? Tungsols? I know they just put Mesa Labeles on them so im trying to figure who makes them. I put these suckers in my Peavey Triplexxx and man they sound killer, way better than the Rubys it came with.

i belive that they are Svetlanas from the russian factory.I would love to try some str 454 in my mark IV.Did you buy them or what?

They used to be called Svetlana, now they are known as SED Winged =C=.

These are the same tubes as the STR-454.

I took these out of my old Mesa triple rectifier, it had 4 of these and 2 orginal str 430's in it. One of the 430's was going bad, blue flame, glowing etc. So I ordered a new set of 6L6's for it, took the newer looking 454's out and stuck them in my Peavey Triplexxx head, and it sounds 10 times better than with the Ruby 6L6GC's

I have a pair of Mesa STR454's and they are probably the best new 6L6's. They should not be confused with the current production Svetlanas as they are made by Sovtek and aren't the same thing. Look out for SED or the winged C logo, then they're the real McCoy !! :D

Where did yu get those Mesas from?

I have SED Winged =C= in my peavey 5150 and absolutely love them but i would likke to find some str 454 for my mark iv, not the =c= so that i will not be forced to change the bias.

Anyone have any ideea? Or maybe if i put eventually Winged C 6L6's in Mark Iv am i obliged to change the bias?

I bought my STR454's a couple of years ago, I don't think you'll find any Mesa ones for sale now. However Watford Valves in the UK will supply winged =C= tubes rated for use in Mesa amps as long as that is what you ask for :D

thanx. Before i e-mail them do you know how much will they take for a duet(price isnt shown on their website) ?
dont mean to be disrespectfull but UK is expensive

later edit: i just found out that regular winged =c= 6l6's go for 32pounds for a pair, seams decent enough, i wonder if the same price for the ones with mesa specifications :?:

Yes the price is the same for ones within Mesa specs but be aware that the prices on their web site don't include tax (vat) = +17.5 % or postage. I'd suggest you email for a quote of an all in delivered price ! :D

I have 4 duets of the 454's for my Triple. They are pretty nice 6L6's. Alot better than other past or present mesa 6L6's but I still won't yank my TAD's for them. They are just back-ups.

Ok so I purchased six Sovtek 6L6WXT+ as recommended for my older mesa triple rectifier dual channel. I stuck them in and run the head thru a Marshall 1960 vintage cabinet, it has Vintage 30's in it. First let me tell you it sounds amazing!! Very quiet and incredable low end punch. I recommend these tubes for any one looking to replace the mesa tubes but dont want to spend the bucks. These tubes are great for heavy dropped tuning metal music. They are fantastic for low end. Im amazed at how quiet they are and the gain is thru the roof!!! All pre-amp tubes are the stock Mesa 12ax7's
