Butchering a PRS SE

Well not exactly butchering, but modifying it with pickups etc......

Anyone MOD an SE single cut yet? I did a search, but the BB search function isn't all that great. I'm thinking about Bare Knuckle Mules in a calibrated set.

Or I can do the PRS tremonti set, but I want to stay on the dirty side since my HSS strat covers clean really well. Staying dirty I could also go with the Bare knuckle "Nailbomb" set...........

Any feedback would be great, I bought the SE wit the intention on modding it since it was fairly cheap.

well, I must say I am huge fan of BK pups...and the mules have that PAF thing goin'/....they do nail warren haynes in a LP

I don't have a Singlecut SE, although I was extremely impressed when I played one side by side with an American made Singlecut. So much so that I would love to add an SESC to my aresenal.

As far as pickup recommendations, I'm using WB Firewater's on my Singlecut Trem, and I love them!

Might I also recommend TonePros locking studs? I have them on all of my other stoptail PRSi, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Hey man, I got an SE earlier this year and what I did was throw in some DiMarzio's. I put an Air Norton DP193 in the neck and put a PAF Pro in the bridge. Gave the guitar a little more nuts. With the right amp settings you could sound pretty **** close to Satriani or Vai.

To comment on the Tremonti's I have the stock Dragon 2 in my Custom 22, which is similar to the Tremonti bass. Warm and clean, very good neck.

The Treble i swapped in the bridge, BIG TONE! Watch out on this one, if you like it scorching hot this is the way to go, not thin though, very full(A bit less mids than average pickups, can easily be correct with a slight bump on amp). It's a really great pickup, roll back volume for the classic dirt, or crank it for full on gain tones. It's actually more versatile than i thought, it just seems to take awhile to redial your amp in.

1. A set of TonePros locking studs (about $50 for a set) are the quickest way to add huevos to it. http://www.tonepros.com/

3. Replacement pickups - choose your poison here. My recommendation is either WB Pickups or Bill Lawrence. They both have fantastic pickups and are great folks to deal with.

4. Replacement tuners. I didn't see the need to replace them on my Tremonti SE. They're fine unless you plan to beat the snot out of your guitar.

i did a tonpros bridge, and the tremonti pickups, and they kick ***, i probobly wouldnt get the tremonti bass again, i might go with a dragon 1 instead, the tremonti bass sounds kinda boring and it isnt splittable... the treble is my favorite lead pickup i have tried
