I Lucked out on an e-bay auction last month and got a deal on a mint one for $230...I will probably never see a deal like this again...

There was only one picture on the auction and it didn't look like a real Meas HGAS...I took a chance....

It was a Custom unit modified in the MB Factory to have Front Input, Front Toggle Switches and a Black Anodized panel....

I added Midi Functionality through a custom circuit board and 5-pin DIN jack

Hi Joe,

I got a HGAS as well, awesome device!

A question, I believe the quality is mainly came from the 4X Jensen's transformer.
But also noticed that the unity gain op-amp was just 2X LF353.
I'm wondering did you ever give it a try to swap the LF353 to some other op-amps?
If so, which one will you recommend?

Thanks !

Pit

Hey Pit,

The Op-amp acts as a buffer / impedance match between the Jensen Xfmrs and the Guitar...I don't see a need to mess with the op-amp since it is pretty transparent.

If you want to, since the Op-amps are installed in a socket, you can swap chips and see if you hear a difference...

There are another 2 op-amp stages in the return circuit as well so you may have to try swapping either or both I.C.'s.

I hope this helps
