Is it safe to run only one side of the amp with a load and the other left on standby without a load?

The manual isn't clear here, like it is with the 290.
 
I would assume that it's safe if you keep the other half on Standby, since it has its own Standby switch. You could also disconnect that channel's input cable and turn the volume down for extra safety.

Ran it like this the past few days, a couple hours at a time. Seems to be running just fine. So, it must cool.
