Tubes for the Triaxis

Post by Kavevester » Mon Nov 21, 2016 6:36 am

Anybody seen a list of tubes, for the Triaxis, with description of characteristics/vendor etc.?

I miss a tight sound with a good punch/response to it.

Any recommendations vendor/type?

I know, right?!?!?!? Mods?

Tempted to post a "bump" in the thread just to get it to the top again

@Kavevester: I never actually answered your question :). I like my cleans full and crystally and leads with a health dose of gain. The only tubes I have replaced from the stock Mesa is in V2 (Mullard CV4024) and V3 (Philips 5751). Now these are lower output tubes which have tamed the DV fizz with the V3 and significantly improved RHY and LD1 with the V2 change. It took me a while to get LD2 how I like it, but the revelation that the BMT tone stack has an impact to the overall gain really helped.
