I ordered a mesa boogie 2:fifty poweramp, a rocktron xpression and a dbx 266XL expander/gate. I also have a v-twin pedal as a preamp. Now I´m not shure how to connect them to get the best sound:

git -> xpression -> dbx -> v-twin -> 2:fifty

or

git -> v-twin -> dbx -> xpression -> 2:fifty

or are there any other routhings that would sound good?

Thanx for your help!

I assume the xpression is a volume pedal.

Guitar - > Xpression -> v-twin -> DBX -> 50/50

or

Guitar - > Xpression -> DBX -> v-twin -> 50/50

If your expanding the DBX before the preamp would make the sound a whole lot fuller before it hit all the Eqing and gain of the v-twin.
However the DBX post v-twin would make it fatten the preamped sound.

For gating always put it after the pre-amp.

the second setup sounds correct-----

guitar - preamp - gate - multieffects - amp

if you run the gate after your effects, it will cut off the tail end of your reverbs and delays

if you run the effects before your preamp, it will sound like poo.
