Ok so they came stock with 8 telefunken-production E83CC NOS Tesla preamp tubes....

...what's the closest new production I can find. I know they won't be that great but let's give it a go.. Thanks!
 
i would love to hear the answer to this. ive got my quad loaded with an assortment of older tubes. I'd say it might be worth the money to find 8 E83CC NOS tubes...considering that they have a life of 10000 hours...but if there are similar quality and good sounding new production tubes i'd certainly be up to try them!
 
You can't go wrong with Chinese pres for full range, gain, and value.

I don't care what anyone says.
 
Thats funny a have a handful of "Mesa" branded tubes that are likely chinese and i dont think they are anything special.
 
I recorded these clips with Chinese preamp tubes, and it does not suck.

The closest thing you'll find is Ei. Great tubes but can be microphonic in high gain applications. Use them wisely in key spots and use Tung Sols for the rest.
