Hi all,

I own 2 Blue Angel combos. They don't sound identical and I started to investigate why.

I got a warmer, richer sound sound with better breakup in the older amp. Now I realize they don't have the exact same tubes, but my idea was to adjust the trim pot which according to the schematic is a kind of master volume. And that's when the trouble started

So I've never come across this kind of pot before, I expected the rotation to be like 7 o'clock to 5 o'clock as most pots but NO! I now realize this is a multi-turn job and I have no idea how to set it? I had to mess with it of course and don't know how to get it back to where it was.

Also if you have used this trim pot for the purpose of controlling gain/volume, please report how it worked out sound-wise?

Thanks for your help!

The schematic says the factory preset is 6.6k. You can set this amp to that or check the other- maybe it's at a setting you'd prefer.

There are a lot of factors that affect the sound- tube tolerance and age, speaker tolerance and age, tolerances in all of the parts in the amps.

There also might've been a schematic revision.
