Output vs. Master (nomenclature question)

I've noticed in Logic Pro X that the Output faders come before the Master faders in the signal chain. On the Mesa amps, each channel has a Master before the Output at the end of the signal chain.

Is there a reason for these two different orders? Or, is it is just arbitrary in the "music biz" to name things Output and Master at random with no real standard definition?

Just curious.

For the Dual Rec anyways, they have the individual channels 'Master' volume and the output and solo levels. Since the solo/output function is not always active, it makes sense not to call that the 'master' volume.

Good point. That's probably the reason right there, the final Mesa SOLO/OUTPUT section can be bypassed entirely and may not be engaged all the time.
