Anyone remember how much these went for new back in the 90s? I had a heartbreaker briefly back then but recently again got a hearbreaker combo for $550 used (2x12 combo both times). Also got a tremoverb 2x12 combo earlier this year for $399 used. Love them! Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving :)

I gave $800.00 for my Heartbreaker Head out the door at Sam Ash in 2000...

The Heartbreaker is under rated imo. I've read many old post from members who said they just didn't bond with it although a handful do really like it. The Heartbreaker has a very steep learning curve steeper than any other amp i own .I wonder if some just gave up too soon. Definitely not a plug-in and play amp. I bought a head off of eBay a few years ago and it took me a long time to mine the gold. It made a big difference when I swapped out the 6L6's with EL34's and put an nos rectifier tube in it. But I play all my amps about once a week when I can to keep the caps from drying out and lm glad I didn't sell it which I originally intended to do . Also glad to have a head version as the combos must be crazy heavy. But $800.00 out the door in 2000 , I probably overpaid for mine in 2013 as it seems their's no collector premium on heartbreakers like on other Mesa/ boogie models. But 63strat I liked your tone (and skills) although your tone is different then mine. Do you mind sharing what tubes using and have you ever tried 6V6's. Thanks in advance for any info.

Thanks Buster, I just have the 6L6s that came in the amp when I bought it. This was on the love/hi/boost/fat (mk1) setting using a 335.
