Hi there. Any suggestions for the best inexpensive hot plate / attenuator to use with my Roadster?

I see a lot of them range from $400 to $1000 easily. At that price point, it might be just as effective to just buy a lower-wattage head or combo.

I was looking at the JHS Little Black Amp Box. It's basically a $45 volume pedal that you put in the FX loop. So, not exactly a hot plate, but still lowers the amp volume for you. Anyone have a good or bad experience with doing something like that?

Thanks.

A volume pedal in the FX loop would be the same as your Output control.

What are you trying to accomplish?

If you are looking to turn that Roadster into a practice/bedroom amp you would be better off with a good EQ in the FX Loop to help make up for the lower Output level.

I've had my Roadster almost 10 years now, and I can tell you straight up that it will never 'feel' or respond the same at low volume. You can get a good low volume sound, but the Roadster really shines at band volume. With an EQ it's a good compromise, and better than anything I could get with just my THD Hotplate.

Thanks a lot for the reply Dom! Maybe I'll give the EQ a try.

The "roadster practice amp" scenario is exactly what I had in mind. Haha.
