ok so I've been doing some research on what amp I want to get and I've come down to these 3 choices 1. Mesa boogie F30 2. Mesa Boogie Express 5:25 3. Friedman pink taco! IM using a Gibson les paul double cutaway classic and The rock stuff I've been playing lately is in the area of Incubus, soundgarden, Bad Brains but I also play a lot of reggae and would like it to be able to clean up for that and some Rnb, jazz/Fusion. some other people on thegearpage were recommending the rectoverb25 but I never really was that crazy about the dual recs! here's a link to one of my favorite guitar tones that I would like to try and get near too http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=G1yuUK5f110

Don't be so quick to dismiss the recto stuff. You can achieve some great atypical recto tones by dialing back the gain and turning up the master on the channel; which most people who aren't familiar with the amp are likely to do. In addition to that there is also the standard array of recto sounds on tap by turning up the gain.

With that said, I think you would be well served with the express 5:25. I would urge to you try the recto 25 if you can, but I think you'll be relatively happy with either.

I really need to get to a shop that carries these two so I can A/b them side by side! from the clips that I've seen im pretty surprised by the recto 25! I just don't think I need that much gain! I was especially surprised with the cleans from the recto though been looking at these clips from both amps https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PILag2Oj3Ns&list=PLGjujwozZnQgkLXrq2bQfCmMQCQCfmEcY

I run my ROV25 and MR with quite low gain and they really deliver great tone. They are clearly voiced for rock as much as really hard stuff. I play a lot of classic rock through them and they cut really well and have a characteristic similar to the Express amps in their punchy midrange.

I had a couple F50s and you'd probably be happy with either the Express or the recto. I encourage you to try both if you want a combo, as the cabinet really dominates the tone of the combos.
