Hi All - found out something interesting earlier.
After buying a mk 5 combo at the weekend I noticed significantly more hum when using channel 1 in tweed mode with the gain control around its middle position, from 10 to 3 o clock approximately.
With gain at minimum or towards maximum the hum/hiss almost completely disappeared. Although not that bad it was noticeably more than in channels 2 or 3.
I called Boogie direct and spoke to a guy called Gary, helpful guy.
After some time he explained that at extremes of gain there is some form of phase change that eliminates the hum and most of the Hiss.
Seems very strange that the hum and hiss is worst mid way though the gain range and is almost eliminated at the highest gain setting - so thought I'd share this !
Cheers all - comments or more explanation welcome.
