Will doing this break my amp!?

I have a three channel Dual Rectifier and I am trying to pair it with a Boss gt-8 for effects only(mainly just delay) but I was wondering if I can use the channel switching function on the Boss to switch between ch 1 and ch 2(primarily all I use) on the dual rec while keeping the mesa footswitch plunged in at the same time so that I can hit ch 3 and solo if needed. I was just wondering if anyone has done something like this and if it will hurt the amp or not. I know about the amp gizmo and other MIDI conversion devices but I'm still new to the amp and am literally 50/50 on keeping it or not. Other than that I'm open to suggestions but really more looking for an answer to my question if possible lol
