It would make more sense if you plugged you guitar in and played, since that is the way the amp was intended to be operated.
 
I just went down and tried mine. Yeah it has about the same amount of "rush" noise as your video. Plugging in an axe changed the sound a little bit. Funny thing is I never noticed this before, I would have said the thing was quiet. I just never get the volume settings up that high.

And yeah it gets hot. I had it repaired once and the thing had melted parts of the board.

I like this amp. The clean channel is great but I can't get anything but mud of the lead channel, must be bugged up. Dosen't matter to me I have not switched a channel on an amp in years.
 
I can let the tubes warm for an hour, mine does the same. Crowbar, could you get video of yours?
