Quick question ...

I recently purchased a Mark V head and a Rectifier 2x12 closed back combo at 8 Ohms. I also have a Mark IV combo. The idea was to sell the Mark IV and keep the V, but after a month and a half rehearsing and gigginge with the V, I've comoe to the conclusion that the IV is better for what I do. So I have the Mark IV combo and the 1x12 extension cab. The cab is 8 ohms, as is the combo speaker; however, as you all know, when ran together each uses one of the two 4 ohm outputs on the combo. So here's my question: Can I replace the 1x12 extension cab with the 2x12? Since both are 8 ohms (ran at 4 ohms with the combo speaker), does this mean it will work? Essentially that would give me a 3x12 combo/stack. Has anyone done that?
