Looking at a local .50 caliber.

It's currently not producing output. Listed for $300

After inquiring, he responds with:

"This thing used to wail. It stopped producing output a few months ago. I had a friend look at it. He couldn't do anything with it but he's not a serious tech.

I have no $$$ to fix it.

All of the tubes do light up. I couldn't tell you about the microphonic noise issue as I'm not sure how to measure that. There is no sound coming from the speaker jacks. I do hear some noise thru the FX loop."

Thoughts?
If it could be an easy fix, I could offer him 200-250 and get it repaired here in Atlanta (Andrew's Amp Lab -- the best)

ps: Oh, and thanks for having me on the forum. Name's Chris 8)

:D Hey Chris, welcome aboard!

I would definitely pick it up for $250, probably even $300.
It could be super simple, like a broken wire connection.

Could be tubes.
Either way, this amp would need a check up. Have the tech check all LDR's, and replace any resistors that look like they've been hot. Then....it should last another 20 years!

These are really great amps with lots of great tones!

I've heard of volume and/or tone problems when switching from OD to clean.

This true?

Can someone elaborate?

I'm in love with Pepper Keenan's tone, hence why I am interested in this amp.

Also, would you say one of the versions has more "grind" to it? (El84 vs 6L6)
