Wondering if any other 5:25 owners feel the amount of background hiss is overly loud in the amp?
I have the amp running at 25 watts, set the master volume on Clean Channel at 12:00, Gain at 12:00, Clean mode. Not input needed.
Seems pretty hissy to me compared to my other amps (Bogner Duende, Bogner Shiva, '65 BFDR, '65 BFPR).
I've tried swapping some tubes, but same noise level.
Comments?
 
My 5:50 hisses on the clean mode of channel 1. It's a little louder than my other amps but is not noticeable at all with a band.

The hiss goes away in the crunch mode of channel 1.
 
My F-30 hissed loudly when I first got it. I retubed it with a complete set of JJs and all hiss is now gone.
 
amps with EL84 power tubes are a bit noisier than most
IMO- amps w/EL84s aren't always the best to do any recordings with
