It's a ridiculous recorded tone. I really wonder if fantastic studio tones are indicative of what to expect when playing an amp. I'm obviously aware that the proliferation of youtube guitarists necessitates this sort of advertising to compete, but when we start panning out complimentary guitar tones and do a well mixed demo, it doesn't necessarily reflect how the amp sounds and feels in a room. Unfortunately, we are now in the generation of cork sniffers who buy gear based on demos that they like, and they do so with little understanding of the work -and manipulation- that goes into cultivating a studio tone.

(Consider the studio tone I showed you over twitter. I used two different amps, two different guitars, and two different cab sims (torpedo) live to achieve that.)

I don't think there is too much studio magic going on. Based on having played one those are the tones the TC50 makes.

I'm expecting to get the combo version assuming it still sounds good in that config, but we are going to have to wait until Feb before we see any Tc50s here.

Mesa posted a new video last night - more of the 6V6 classic rock stuff, and it sounds awesome https://youtu.be/kSDXF2DzLpE.

I can verify that the EL34 and 6L6 tones in the videos are very accurate. I'm pretty impressed with how the 6V6s sound and tempted to pick up a pair to try out myself so I can better understand how it impacts the overall sound and feel of the amplifier.

If I ever pick up a TC50 head, it will definitely have to run with 6V6s 8)

Then again, if it will accept KT66s, might have to go that way

I wish they would do more classic rock with either 6L6 or EL34 or both. They seem stuck on 6V6. I like, but want to hear the EL34 in particular.

I took my TC-50 and my recto 2x12 to a rehearsal today. Other guitarist had a Marshall half stack. All three channels sounded great, both guitars sat in the mix with bas,s vocals and drums very well.

The TC-50 sounded fantastic. It was a 90s set, so we played:

Rearviewmirror (clean and blue channel)
Bullet with butterfly wings (clean and red channel)
Down (STP) (red channel)
Them Bones (red channel)
Rusty Cage (red channel)

Amp sounded great on everything, didn't use or feel like I needed a boost.

Here's a recording I made last night http://dlpas.co/m0xT.mp3
