I wanted to compare my basic rhythm sound with the one I had three years ago, so I created this comparison. The track is Van Halen's Aftershock.

First half:
Suhr Modern Pro - Boogie JP-2C - V30 - SM57

Second half:
EVH Wolfgang - EVH 5150 III - Greenback - SM57

Sounds great! I can hear that smoothness or richness the JP has over the 5150 but it's still just as aggressive. Also, that low end punch from the JP is substantial. Really, the JP just sounded bigger. Almost like a 100 watt amp compared to a 50 watt amp. But I have to admit, the 5150 sounded closer to Van Halen's tone. So if you ask me which one sounds better, I say the JP2C. But if you ask me which one sounds like Van Halen, I gotta go with the 5150.

Thanks man, my feelings exactly. I wish I hadn't picked a VH tune actually as people elsewhere seem to have focused on that aspect. Thanks for your constructive points and I couldn't agree more.
