Finally heard a JP2C live

And it was being played by the Master himself at the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford CT last night.

This was hands down not only one of the best Dream Theater shows I've seen, but probably one of the best shows I've seen period. Mike Mangini is a great fit for sure.

John's tone was amazing, and the band's performance flawless. The JP2C really does 'sing'.

Did they just play "The Astonishing" or was it a variety of tunes. I had heard they were going to do a theatrical version of the Astonishing album, but it was all rumor.

They played just The Astonishing, in its entirety with a quick intermission between acts (CDs).

I actually prefer Mangini, but agree that they have a different feel with him.

Oh totally, it's like they're all too happy or something. The cheese begins to predominate...
